Q5 s tronic
« on: December 01, 2009, 09:09:16 AM »
I am concerned that there appears to be a problem with what must be considered if I am informed correctly with Q5 s tronic. Mine is not smooth and has developed a problem at 1500 rpm where it refuses to change gear and the lapse in take up is very dangerous. I am told there is a software update but also there are replacement units being fitted under warranty with very low mileage vehicles. Does anyone have any information on this?

Think there's a defect with the S-Tronic Box but the good news is that there's a software upgrade that will transform the behavior of your Q5.

I've just had a first service @ 20k miles and I specifically raised the issue before leaving it with my dealer "Audi Guildford". They hinted that there was a "software update" available.

All aspects of up and down-shifts have improved and I'm as delighted as ever with it - first time I've ever run a car that I would choose again when it's time to change.

I got my Q5 2.0 Tfsi a coupld of weeks ago and immediately reactated over the "weird" gearbox, where I always find myself on the wrong gear. In particular when approaching a roundabout doing 20 mph and want to accelerate and you find yourself on 5th gear which means there is a 2 second lag before anything happens. Also difficult to take a smooth corner as you are on too high gear coming out and want to accelerate.

First I thought it was just me not being used to a bigger vehicle coming from an A4 Cabriolet, but when my wife started complaining I took it to Audi for a "Test Drive". Now got it booked in for a software upgrade, so really hope this does make a difference.

Thanks

Niclas

I have a 2.0TDI Auto. I too have been having long lags between pressing accelerator and take off from standing starts, roundabouts etc. I am very interested in these posts. Concerning the software update,I am curious about two things.
I wonder why my vehicle, reg 20/01/10, did not have it prior to delivery, and does it cost money to have the dealer do it? Grateful for any info/opinion on this matter from members.
