Tyres
« on: October 25, 2008, 12:18:29 PM »
Hi, just joined the Q5 club!
I have already ordered my Q5 - 3.0 TDI, but have to wait till Feb 15 to take delivery. Ice silver with black leather, open sky roof, 19in 5 spoke rims with 235 R19 tyres, drive select and rear cammera. Can't wait!

Anyway, my question is: What tyres are fitted? Are they "Run Flat" tyres? I noticed on the one photo that the make was Dunlop. The write-ups are not good on run flats and  can anyone tell me if am I able to make my own tyre choice?
Thanks for any help/advise

Hi Ches, welcome aboard! I envy you, wish I could say I will have my Q5 in February, but I am in North America, and no Q5 in sight here!

Hopefully SimRich can answer your question.

I need to clarify that the tyres on my Q5 3.0 TDI are  Dunlop "SP SPORT 01" 235X19 and are NOT run flat tyres like on the BMWs. Very pleased!
Had some snow yesterday and was supprised they held reasonably well on acceration. Probably only because they are new! The quatro system (with ESP) cut the revs and tried realy hard to find traction was amazing to be able to have full controll with my foot flat.
Under breaking they, just did not hold at all have to be real careful. Probably will not put winter tyres on this year. Will see.
If I had gone for the 20" rims they grow to 250X20 and then they would have to be changed for winter tyres because the foot print gets to big and do not have the pressure to bite into the snow.
This I found out the hard way from my time in Switzerland and my 235 tyres I had on a A4 quatro. Had to change them!

It is not only the young generation who has made its own new styles but the big brands also took on the Hip-Hop fashion which contributed to its ongoing popularity. Leather bomber jackets, sneakers, Dr. Marten’s boots etc dominated the fashion world of 1980s.
