It has not happened to me. Call the Local Audi service dept and inquired about this issue. Have not had a complaint since Aug 08. Switch got stuck in depressed position ? :'(

Hi deadbyme.
The same thing happened to me yesterday. I think I was the problem. I was parked, motor running and I open the tailgate. When I went to close it, it would not respond. I closed it manually and then I recycled it and every thing was ok.

I have a 2009 Audi Q5 and a 2008 Audi A6 Avant. This problem has not (as yet) happened on the Q5 but has happened on a number of occasions on the A6 Avant. I have found that the solution is to cycle the tailgate opening manually and the system will rest itself. I mentioned it to the service team at my local Audi dealership but they could find nothing wrong with the vehicle. I suspect that this is a "feature" of the tailgate opening system in that it occasionally gets out of sync and in my opinion it is no big drama to close and open the tailgate manually (albeit it is quite stiff and takes a little effort)  - thereafter it works fine.
